If you are contemplating Mobile marketing to promote your product or service, you need to know how it works best as a medium.
Mobile marketing is a powerhouse, outweighing all other technology devices put together in the internet, communications and information arenas. The New York Times calls it “the most powerful medium ever invented.”
Yet, you’d be under utilizing the Mobile opportunity if all you ever did was educate or entertain consumers or see it as another promotional channel along with all your other media strategies. Let’s take a look at how you can make solid connections to this virtual and exciting marketplace.
Recently, I came across some perspectives and insights on this very subject at a Mobile Innovation Week Convention. It began with the understanding that Mobile is not just another place to dump content. Mobile is very good at increasing conversion because it is a communication tool, used impulsively and it lives in the consumer pockets.
Mobile is an action and buying mechanism. At its best, Mobile use engages the consumer instantly and moves them directly from one space (A) to another (B), either physically or virtually. It’s when consumers move from A to B that your business makes money.
The key is to concentrate on reach and frequency.
Simple messaging for example, is still the biggest bucket because that is what users are doing 83% of the time. They are on their mobile phone and texting more than anything else.
As always, businesses hit pay dirt by understanding consumers behavior. This is no different in Mobile Marketing. When you find out when and where your consumer is, then follow up with them and stay on their heels.
Keep it simple and use these basic Mobile principles.
- Understand WHAT users are doing with Mobile
- WHERE they are doing it, and then
- Offer them what they want, when they want it!
